Dr. Craig A. Yamamoto was born in Urbana, IL and raised in Honolulu, HI, after his family returned to their roots.
He was inspired by his uncle, who was a dentist, and felt that he would enjoy the profession and the opportunity to work with his hands.
Dr. Yamamoto completed his undergraduate education at the University of Hawaii, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.
After realizing later on that he wanted to pursue dentistry, he was encouraged to apply to dental school.
He chose to return to Illinois to attend Northwestern University. In 1988, he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honor Society and obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.
Dr. Yamamoto participated in a one-year general practice residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital after dental school and he discovered his love for surgery during the residency and chose to continue his training by completing a four-year oral and maxillofacial residency at the University of California in San Francisco.
